Peterson grew up a Dallas Cowboys fan as an East Texas born and raised, an idolized Hall of Fame running-back Tony Dorsett and now he’s ahead of him in total career rushing yards.

Peterson now has 587 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns so far this season in 7 games. Those are impressive stats and so was his 149 rushing yards and 2 total touchdowns today against the New York Giants. The most impressive stat for 33 year old Peterson is the 12,863 career rushing yards he now has that put him ahead of Tony Dorsett’s 12,739 career rushing yards.

Peterson is ranked 9th in career rushing yards now. Peterson needs 397 yards to grab that 8th spot from legendary running-back Eric Dickerson who is also ahead of Peterson in most rushing yards in a single season. Dickerson is number 1 with the most rushing yards in a season and Peterson is number 2 by only 8 yards.

Peterson started off his game against the Giants with a fumble but kept grinding and ended with a great game and was the reason the Giants beat their Division rivals, the Giants. “For me, it was about locking in, letting that play go,” he said after the game to the press.
