The Los Angeles Rams were soundly defeated by the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII yesterday, but this will only fuel the Rams and they will win the Super Bowl next season.
Yesterday the Rams were held to only three points so they were completely shut down on offense, but defensively had a great game. Holding such a prolific offense led by Tom Brady to 13 points is very impressive. Most of their top defensive players are returning next season. There are a few top defensive free agents like free safety LaMarcus Joyner, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, edge rusher Dante Fowler, and linebacker Cory Littleton, but I expect Littleton and Suh to be resigned. Littleton will probably be resigned because of lack of depth at the linebacker position. The Rams also have a lack of depth at defensive tackle and rely heavily on the Suh Donald combination in the interior of the defensive line. (Note I edited this after signings and extensions were made and they haven’t resigned Suh yet but have resigned Littleton). The defense was ranked 19th in yards allowed per game but improved at the end of the year when players like corner back Aqib Talib returned from injury. Expect the Rams defense to be strong next season.

The offense and special teams are the units who will be the biggest contributors to a Super Bowl return for this young talented team. Their kicker Greg Zuerlein will return and so will punter Johnny Hekker so their two top special teams’ assets will be back in action barring injury. The offense only having two notable free agents in running back CJ Anderson and starting interior offensive lineman Roger Saffold won’t be hit too hard by losses and I expect them to resign at least Saffold. Saffold is one of the best offensive lineman and a important part of the team but update again I was wrong here they didn’t resign him and now he is a Tennessee Titan. The offense was the second best offense in terms of yards per game and truly was a force to be reckoned with. This offensive dominance should continue next season.
Sean McVay is a great young coach and is considered the next great offensive mind in football, but his game plan didn’t pan out in this year’s Super Bowl. This man is known for his intelligence and insane memory, being able to remember specific plays from 2 years ago in week 3. He will remember this loss and won’t let it happen again and the players will remember it too. Quarterback Jared Goff will have to improve next season in his clutch ability and ability to deliver when his offenses’ running game is ineffective, but I think this talented young player will continue to develop. Cooper Kupp also didn’t play in the playoffs due to an injury suffered mid regular season but I believe he will be a hug impact next season and in another playoff run if they do return to the playoffs.
