NFL Draft season has officially begun and the next stage is the NFL Combine which starts this Friday March 1. This gives fans, scouts, coaches, general managers, analysts, and many other chances to see draft prospects work out with on field drills, and exercises to get a better look at these players.
Former wide receiver of the Carolina Panthers and the Baltimore Ravens Steve Smith wrote a very interesting article about his top 10 wide receivers to watch during the combine. Smith as a former wide receiver and a great one knows what it takes to be a great wide receiver. Ever since he became an analyst he’s been really good at scouting out which prospects will pan out and which ones will bust.
The ten receivers Smith tells readers to watch are mainly day 2 and 3 guys but a few have a chance at going on day 1. Click on the hyperlink in the second paragraph to see who these guys are in full. Some names on his list include Deebo Samuel from South Carolina, JJ Arcega-Whiteside from Stanford, A.J. Brown from Ole Miss, and Hakeem Butler from Iowa State. Smith also makes it very clear these guys aren’t his top 10 ranking order but just ten guys to watch but some probably are on his top 10 since many of them are some of the most highly regarded receivers in this class by the draft community. Receivers will have their on-field workouts on Saturday so that’s when people will get to see them run the 40, cone drills, vertical and horizontal jumps, and receiver catching drills.
