Kyler Murray to the Arizona Cardinals?

The NFL draft starts April 25, and anything could happen but the NFL community for the most part seems convinced the Cardinals will pick Kyler Murray.

poll from blog’s twitter

Earlier in the week a poll was asking the Twitter community if they thought Murray would go number one overall to the Cardinals. The results were closer than expected but most answered yes, and it seems like the most likely outcome.

Bleacher report draft analyst Matt Miller has heard from several different teams that Murray is going number 1 to the Cardinals and the Cardinals new head coach Kliff Kingsbury has also said he loves Murray. The problem that makes this debatable and confusing is the Cardinals drafted a quarterback last year when they selected Josh Rosen at pick 10 in the 2018 Draft. Rosen had a rough rookie year but most of his problems came from a lack of receiving weapons, a terrible offensive line, and bad offensive play calling. Play calling should be resolved with great offensive minded head coach Kingsbury. The draft and free agency should help with the other two issues but it seems like the organization is considering a change at quarterback despite Rosen still being young and promising.

There are a few teams trying to trade for Rosen but right now the team most interested according to the sports media are the Washington Redskins. The Cardinals want as close to a first round pick as possible though which will be very difficult considering the season Rosen had and the fact that if Rosen is traded it’s obvious what the Cardinals will do in the draft. The Redskins recently signed Case Keenum the journeyman quarterback but still have to address the position with Keenum struggling last season with the Denver Broncos and Alex Smith, the Redskins quarterback last year suffering a gruesome injury that has put his NFL future into question.

The Cardinals taking Murray is becoming a bit less obvious as the draft draws closer but that only makes the draft more exciting because if the top pick is a sure, obvious thing it lessens the excitement of the event.
